The super matt finish of Hahnemüle Photorag makes it one of the most popular papers amongst artists, illustrators & photographers alike. The paper gives muted blacks with even colour reproduction and excellent detail. The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients. 2.2 Nathalie Trogrlic for 'Dancers on Rooftops' | Aug 21, 2012 | Hackney Wick, London, UK

For years Dance was a mystery to me. What is it? How come we start moving like that when the music starts? Not all the people I photographed for the project were full-time working dancers. I met Nathalie early on in my career. It was in a fancy London club, where I was working as a nightlife photographer for the club, and she was bartending.
She had a unique look, being half Swedish half Croatian. She liked my work and we connected to create something together. I told her I started photographing a project called ‘Dancers on Rooftops’, and she said she used to be a dancer when she was a bit younger. We decided to try a session for the project and ended up photographing on the roof of my friend’s warehouse in Hackney Wick, outside his attic bedroom window. HW, an ex-industrial neighbourhood with lots of warehouses, was the best place in London for easy access to rooftops.
This was session #4 in the project. The first 15 were all in HW, where I was living and working between 2011-2019. This roof was 5min walk around the corner from my studio - another photograph that screams Home for me. My Home away from Home.

Being able to use the project as an excuse to revive Nathalie's Dance passion was priceless.
This photo is a timeless reminder that we are all dancers, from the moment we're born until we die.
